Vital Engineering Centre
Set the design basis.
Resolve the detail.
Standards, loads, spans, connections and material evidence for GRP access systems. Define the conditions, follow the load path and bring the engineering detail into your specification.

Connect the standard
to the design decision.
Start with the intended use and the complete load path. Agree the applicable standards, editions and project requirements before turning product data into a specification.
Actions & serviceability
Define distributed and concentrated loads, temporary construction loads and any relevant dynamic effects. Record clear spans, support conditions and the deflection criterion; assess strength and serviceability.
Supports, substrate & fixings
Trace the load from panel to member, connection and supporting structure. Confirm substrate condition, edge distances and fixing selection. Agree whether site pull tests are required, with the test purpose and acceptance criteria specified.
Materials & design records
Identify the panel or profile, resin and relevant material data. Include exposure, service temperature and maintenance conditions. Coordinate calculations, support details, cut-outs and drawing revisions with the installation information.
Industrial flooring, walkways and stair treads. Review the proposed grating, support arrangement and installation requirements. Machinery access falls under the relevant BS EN ISO 14122 provisions.
Select the relevant part for access choice, working platforms and walkways, stairs and guardrails, or fixed ladders. Establish the access purpose, geometry and protection requirements.
Match the profile designation and grade to the applicable material properties and test evidence. Check member stability, connections and deflection separately; a profile grade does not establish installed-system capacity.
Selection and installation of anchors in concrete and masonry. Confirm substrate, anchor suitability, installation conditions and any specified testing requirements.
Match test evidence to the pedestrian surface, test method and relevant surface conditions. Check how the reported result relates to the intended use and maintenance regime.
Check the classification report for the actual product and end-use conditions. Reaction-to-fire classification does not establish fire resistance or compartmentation performance.
Use this as a route into the relevant standards, not a blanket compliance statement. Confirm scope, edition, amendments and project-specific requirements with the designer. The links open BSI’s standard records; product and project evidence should identify the exact standard used.

RiserDeck® resource collection
From the opening
to the handover.
Understand the system
Compare post-fix and cast-in routes, duty inputs and the interfaces that shape the solution.
Explore the RiserDeck® hub →Prepare the specification
Define loads, spans, supports, restraint, substrate and service openings in one coordinated brief.
Read the Specifier Guide →Plan the installation
Review site readiness, installation sequence, fixing checks, inspection and handover.
Read the Contractor / Installation Guide →
Need the current RiserDeck® technical pack?
Ask for applicable product data, details and installation information. Include your project stage and proposed arrangement so the documents can be matched to the requirement.
Request technical documents →A clearer brief.
A more useful review.
Use the tools to organise your inputs and explore preliminary guidance. For a multi-product document, open the GRP specification generator, save your inputs and download the result for review. Project-specific suitability remains tied to the complete arrangement and its design review.
GRP load & span guidance
Start with the project conditions and read the result with its assumptions and review requirements.
Open load & span guidance →RiserDeck®specification brief
Record the construction route, opening dimensions, duty input and service interfaces. Copy or save the brief for your enquiry.
Build your riser brief →Platform & walkway design inputs
Bring access duty, geometry, levels, supporting structure and operating conditions into the design discussion.
Review the design inputs →Platform requirement builder
Structure the information for a platform or walkway enquiry, including scope and interfaces.
Build and save your platform brief →A tool output is a starting point for review. It does not establish an approved load capacity, finished specification or permission to install.
Technical information
Ask for the information
that fits the application.
Include the product or system, intended use and conditions when requesting data. Check that the document covers the proposed arrangement and revision.
For a specific project, share the drawing reference and the decision the information needs to support.
Loads, spans and material properties
Review the generic GRP material-property reference, then request product-specific data for the proposed application.
Identify the panel or profile, support conditions, load case and environment. Ask for the applicable data and limitations alongside load and span guidance and system information.
Testing, certification and assurance
Use the Assurance Centre for company credentials and technical evidence routes. Product testing, installed-system performance and company accreditation answer different questions.
BIM, CAD and typical details
Tell us the project stage, required format and coordination requirements. A typical detail explains an arrangement; project fabrication information must match the accepted design. Discuss drawing and model requirements →
Installation, inspection and maintenance
Read the GRP Inspection & Maintenance Guide →
Request instructions for the selected system and its supports, connections and intended use. Identify the information needed for inspection, handover and future access. Start with the RiserDeck®Installation Guide or Platform and walkway design inputs.
Lifecycle and recovery information
Bring service conditions, maintenance expectations and end-of-life requirements into the enquiry. Explore sustainability and GRP recovery →

When the document is not enough
Bring the interface
into the conversation.
Using these resources
Know what to use.
Know when to ask.
Start with the published guidance, then request the documents and support needed for the actual project.
Can I use a calculator result as the final design?
No. Read the stated assumptions and limitations. The complete system, loads, spans, supports, connections and interfaces still require review.
How do I request the right technical pack?
Include the system, project stage, proposed arrangement and records required. Attach drawings or photographs where useful. Send the request to Vital →
How do I check whether a document is current?
Check its product or system identity, revision, issue date and applicability. If these are unclear, ask Vital to confirm the document before relying on it.
What if I do not have complete drawings?
Send the information you have and identify what is unknown. A sketch, photograph, outline scope or partial schedule can help start the discussion.
Put the guidance to work
Send your drawings.
Start the technical review.
Include your system, project stage and the question you need to resolve.
