GRP technical consultation · Samples · CPD
Bring your questions.
Specify with clarity.
A focused technical conversation, a relevant product sample or a team learning session. Get the support that fits the decision, from early material selection to a live GRP access-system brief.

Start with the decision
you need to make.
Support for engineers, architects, contractors, buyers and asset teams. Choose the route that matches your question and the stage of the project.
Resolve a project question
Discuss the application, design criteria, site interfaces or specification. Identify the information needed before selection, design or procurement can proceed.
Explore technical consultation →Review the material
Compare a representative product sample for its visible features and handling. Agree what you want to assess before requesting it.
Prepare a sample request →Build team understanding
Arrange a focused CPD-style session, Lunch & Learn or design-team workshop around GRP systems and the questions your team encounters.
Plan a team session →Technical consultation & specification review
Bring the requirement.
Resolve the next step.
Use a live drawing, outline brief or specification to focus the conversation. Bring the relevant disciplines together where structure, services, access and installation overlap.
A useful outcome
Agree the open questions, relevant technical information and next action—such as a survey, a design scope, a product-data request or a revised brief.
Application and environment
Clarify the access task, operating conditions, exposure and maintenance needs before narrowing the system or material options.
Loading and interfaces
Bring spans, load requirements, support conditions, service openings and fixings into the same discussion.
Read load & span guidance →Specification and evidence
Identify missing criteria and the applicable product or system evidence. Review the relevant standards and confirm where project-specific assessment is required.
Explore standards and design checks →Delivery and scope
Discuss survey, drawing, fabrication and installation requirements. Separate preliminary guidance from any formally appointed design deliverables.
Explore engineering deliverables →Product samples
Put the material
beside the question.
Tell us the product family and what you need to compare. Samples can support a discussion about appearance, profile geometry or surface finish alongside the technical information.
For standard grating, profile and anti-slip sample enquiries, use the GRP Express sample request. Availability and delivery conditions are confirmed for the request.
A small sample does not establish installed load capacity, slip performance or chemical suitability. Match performance decisions to the applicable data and project conditions.
Surface
Texture, finish and the feature the team needs to examine.
Geometry
Mesh, depth or profile shape, identified against the intended product.
Appearance
Representative colour and contrast with the surrounding materials.
Application
Location, exposure and the specification decision behind the request.
CPD-style sessions · Lunch & Learn · Workshops
A session built around
your team’s questions.
Agree the audience, technical level and desired learning outcomes. The format can be online, in an office or linked to a project, subject to the arrangements confirmed with Vital.
A design-team workshop can bring engineers, architects, building-services teams, contractors and operators into one focused discussion.
Where formal CPD recognition, learning hours or attendance records are required, include those requirements in the enquiry so the session arrangements can be confirmed.
Enquire about a team session →Shape your workshop
Materials & performanceMaterial choices, system behaviour and the evidence behind them.
Material selection
Where GRP may fit the application; which exposure, fire, slip and maintenance questions need evidence.
System design
Loads, spans, supports, restraint and service interfaces. Why the complete arrangement matters.
Standards & specificationConnect the references to real design decisions.
Standards in context
How to identify the relevant scope of references such as BS 4592-4, BS EN ISO 14122 and BS EN 13706, using the Engineering Centre guide.
Specification pitfalls
Missing design criteria, mismatched load data, unclear responsibilities and assumptions about product performance.
Coordination & next actionsBring the learning back to your project.
Project coordination
Survey inputs, access requirements, drawing review, installation planning and the handover information.
Questions and follow-up
Apply the discussion to your team’s questions and identify the resources or further review needed.
Make the request useful
Tell us the question.
We’ll focus the support.
Send a brief outline of the decision and who needs to be involved. For a live project, attach the relevant drawing or share the available information through the enquiry route.

Keep the next step clear.
Connect the discussion with relevant guides, product documents, sample requirements and any agreed project actions.
Shape your request
- Purpose: consultation, sample comparison, specification review or team learning.
- Context: system, application, project stage and the decision to resolve.
- People: disciplines involved, technical level and group size for a session.
- Format: preferred online, office or project discussion and possible dates.
- Outcome: information, sample features or learning objectives you need.
Planning the support
Useful answers
before you enquire.
The topic, audience and expected output are agreed so the support stays focused on the decision.
Can we request a product sample?
Yes. Identify the product and the feature you need to assess. Standard sample requests can be made through GRP Express; suitability, availability and delivery arrangements are confirmed before supply.
Do you offer Lunch & Learn or CPD-style sessions?
Yes. Enquire with the audience, subject, preferred format and learning objectives so Vital can agree a suitable session.
Is every session formally accredited CPD?
Accreditation and learning records must be confirmed for the specific session. Include your recognition requirements in the enquiry before booking.
Can the discussion use our live project?
Yes. Agree the information that may be used and the audience it can be shared with. Project-specific design work is defined separately from general learning.
Who should attend a workshop?
Include the people responsible for the decisions in scope: design, structures, services, procurement, installation or operation as appropriate.
Does a consultation include a structural calculation?
Only where it is part of a separately agreed design scope. A preliminary discussion helps identify the information and engineering work required.

Vital Technical Academy · Sprint 9
Turn technical knowledge
into specification support.
The existing consultation and CPD offer now becomes the front door to a structured Vital Technical Academy. Each technical subject should be built once as authoritative engineering content, then repurposed into the formats consultants, contractors and asset owners actually use.
Specifying Structural GRP
Material behaviour, profile selection, connections, load paths, evidence and the information a designer needs before specification.
GRP vs Steel
Whole-life engineering comparison covering corrosion, mass, installation, maintenance, electrical environment and evidence boundaries.
Access Platforms & Stairs
Design inputs, access geometry, platform interfaces, foundations, buildability and project-specific review triggers.
GRP Fire Performance
Evidence-led specification: reaction to fire, smoke/toxicity requirements, configuration limits and how to avoid generic FR claims.
GRP in AMP8 & Water
Corrosive environments, maintenance access, treatment assets, operational-site installation and whole-life access planning.
Service Risers & RiserDeck®
Riser void protection, service flooring, structural interfaces, fire strategy coordination, installation sequencing and controlled handover information.
Every Academy module should be recorded and structured so the same technical work becomes a CPD session, webinar/video, podcast, transcript, technical article and downloadable guide.
