GRP Pharmaceutical Service Riser Flooring
Plan RiserDeck® GRP flooring around pharmaceutical building services, with supports, penetrations and planned access coordinated together.
Explore this area →Start with the engineering area and the maintenance task.
A life-sciences campus contains very different environments: exposed utility plant, technical service rooms and controlled manufacturing spaces. Identify exactly where the access system will sit and how it will be used. A platform beside an external utility skid has a different material and cleaning brief from equipment inside a controlled production area.
Vital can coordinate the grating, supporting frame, stairs, guarding and service openings as an access package. Establish the boundary with the equipment supplier, building-services designer and facility team. Keep maintenance routes, equipment withdrawal and inspection positions in the layout from the start.
Resolve the existing interfaces
Record the facility’s cleaning regime, material restrictions and change-control requirements before selecting a construction. GRP alone does not establish hygienic, cleanroom or GMP suitability. Where those requirements apply, the facility team should define the acceptance criteria for the complete arrangement, including joints, fixings and installation.
Discuss survey and site capture →The inputs that shape the access system.
External utilities, technical plantroom or service riser; inspection, servicing and removal positions.
Personnel, tools, equipment loads, clear spans and the retained supporting asset.
Cleaning agents, concentrations, temperature, moisture and any controlled-area requirements.
Working windows, segregated routes, contamination controls and handover records.
Coordinate the installation with the operator.
Plan the work and the handover
Agree the installation boundary with facilities and production teams. Survey access routes and module handling before fabrication. Plan cutting and drilling, waste control, cleaning and inspection around the site’s operating procedures, then record the completed arrangement for maintenance.
Discuss design and fabrication information →Requirements for this application
The facility specification sets the relevant quality and operational requirements. Identify required material data, drawings, inspections and change records at enquiry stage so the access package can support the project’s acceptance process.
Review the specification inputs →Coordinate maintenance with facility requirements.
Facility quality requirements
EudraLex Volume 4 → includes guidance on premises and equipment. The facility team should identify the requirements relevant to the work area and its acceptance process; this is not a product certification.
Maintenance and isolation
HSE maintenance guidance → covers planning and safe maintenance. Coordinate equipment isolation and work controls with the operator before installation or servicing.
Match the evidence to the installed arrangement.
Access and structure
Where the primary purpose is access to machinery, ISO 14122-2 → provides a relevant reference for platforms and walkways. Agree the applicable requirements and owner specification.
Materials and exposure
Confirm the selected profile, grating, resin and fixing evidence for the duty. A profile specification does not establish the capacity of a complete platform.
Request technical assurance →Retain or replace
Compare GRP and steel on the same span, loads, interfaces, exposure and installed scope. Include the condition and maintenance needs of retained work.
Explore refurbishment →Select the connected access components.
Specify the panel, frame, guarding and connections together. Match span, loading and exposure to the selected assembly rather than choosing from panel thickness alone.
Turn the requirement into a useful enquiry.
Record the dimensions, duty, supports and operating constraints in your project brief. Send the available drawings and photographs with your requirement so Kev or Ashleigh can help coordinate the engineering review.
Bring the available information
Include plans, sections, photographs, equipment clearances and the installation window. Mark unknown inputs for discussion.
The brief supports engineering review; it does not calculate or approve the installed structure.
