GRP Access for Pharmaceuticals & Life Sciences →
GRP Pharmaceutical Utility Platforms
External utility access.
Reach the service points.
Coordinate GRP platforms, stairs and walkways around pharmaceutical campus utility equipment, valves and pipework.

Connect the route to each operating position.
External utility areas can contain water-treatment skids, pumps, heat exchangers and distribution pipework. Mark the valves, instruments and removable components that require access. Establish whether the task needs a standing position, a continuous walkway or working space for tools and replacement parts.
Design the complete load path from the deck through the frame and connections into the supporting asset. Capture clear spans, maintenance loads and any component handling reactions. Existing pipe supports or equipment skids are only potential support locations until their suitability is confirmed by the responsible designer.
Resolve the existing interfaces
Map actual exposure rather than using a general chemical-resistance claim. Provide the cleaning and process chemicals, concentration, temperature and likely contact duration. Include UV, standing water and metallic connection components in the review. Keep access to drains, isolation points and retained equipment available.
Discuss survey and site capture →The inputs that shape the access system.
Valve reach, instrument access, component withdrawal and lifting positions.
Personnel, tools, concentrated loads, handling reactions and permitted storage.
Support condition, bearing levels, anchors, underground services and drainage.
Chemical identity, concentration, temperature, weathering and surface contamination.
Coordinate the installation with the operator.
Plan the work and the handover
Coordinate fabrication modules with the delivery route and lifting plan. Agree utility isolations and temporary access with the operator. Inspect supports, connections, guarding and equipment clearances before handover; identify removable sections and their reinstatement method.
Discuss design and fabrication information →Requirements for this application
Specify material and structural evidence for the selected assembly. Where the main purpose is access to machinery, review the relevant ISO 14122 requirements with the equipment supplier. Treat any hazardous-area or static-control requirement as an explicit part of the project brief.
Review the specification inputs →Coordinate maintenance with facility requirements.
Facility quality requirements
EudraLex Volume 4 → includes guidance on premises and equipment. The facility team should identify the requirements relevant to the work area and its acceptance process; this is not a product certification.
Maintenance and isolation
HSE maintenance guidance → covers planning and safe maintenance. Coordinate equipment isolation and work controls with the operator before installation or servicing.
Match the evidence to the installed arrangement.
Access and structure
Where the primary purpose is access to machinery, ISO 14122-2 → provides a relevant reference for platforms and walkways. Agree the applicable requirements and owner specification.
Materials and exposure
Confirm the selected profile, grating, resin and fixing evidence for the duty. A profile specification does not establish the capacity of a complete platform.
Request technical assurance →Retain or replace
Compare GRP and steel on the same span, loads, interfaces, exposure and installed scope. Include the condition and maintenance needs of retained work.
Explore refurbishment →Select the connected access components.
Specify the panel, frame, guarding and connections together. Match span, loading and exposure to the selected assembly rather than choosing from panel thickness alone.
Turn the requirement into a useful enquiry.
Record the dimensions, duty, supports and operating constraints in your project brief. Send the available drawings and photographs with your requirement so Kev or Ashleigh can help coordinate the engineering review.
Bring the available information
Include plans, sections, photographs, equipment clearances and the installation window. Mark unknown inputs for discussion.
The brief supports engineering review; it does not calculate or approve the installed structure.
