Pultruded GRP grating & slab flooring
GRP slab flooring.
Designed around your loads.
Explore 54mm and 100mm pultruded GRP slab for heavy-duty flooring and cover projects, alongside open pultruded grating. Vital coordinates the panel, supports and connections around your actual spans and loading.

54mm and 100mm GRP slab enquiries
Bring the slab and its supports
into one design.
Considering 54mm and 100mm GRP slab for an access deck, trench cover or demanding maintenance area? Send the clear span, support layout, required surface and loading schedule. We can review the slab route as part of a coordinated flooring package.
Confirm the product form
Identify the exact profile, overall depth, surface finish and joint detail. Match the proposed arrangement to current product-specific load and deflection data.
Define the heavy-duty use
Provide distributed loads and individual equipment or wheel loads with contact areas. Include movement, openings and removable-panel requirements; a 54mm and 100mm depth alone does not establish capacity.
Different forms, different details
Choose open grating
or a slab surface.
Both routes need an identified product and a checked supporting arrangement. Their surface, joints and fabrication details differ.
Pultruded grating
An open assembly with directional load-bearing members. Specify the bearing-bar direction, spacing and depth alongside the clear span and required loading.
Review the surface opening, drainage and local contact requirements. Cross members and connections must be understood as part of the selected product.
Pultruded slab
A closed structural panel form, including hollow interlocking sections. Coordinate the profile direction, edge joint and surface orientation with the support layout.
GRP slab depths are 54mm and 100mm; 50mm refers to grating, not this slab range. Request the current product drawing and load data for the selected slab profile, finish and support arrangement.
A closed surface does not establish a watertight assembly. Where drainage or containment matters, specify the joints, penetrations and perimeter detail as well as the panel.
Orientation is a design input
Mark the direction
on every panel layout.
Pultruded flooring is directional. The bearing direction needs to remain clear from the design drawing through cutting, delivery and installation.
Support lines
Show where the load-bearing members span and where they bear. Identify changes of direction and interrupted supports.
Piece marks
Identify each fabricated panel and its orientation. Include the drawing revision so cut pieces arrive with an unambiguous location.
Openings
Coordinate cut-outs with the load-bearing elements. Review interrupted members and any additional framing before cutting.
Do not rotate a directional panel simply to make a cut layout fit. Confirm any alternative orientation against the structural design and the product’s applicable data.
Engineering the floor
Build the design basis
before comparing depths.
Use the exact product data and the actual arrangement. A nominal depth or general longer-span description does not establish capacity.
Actions & contact areas
Provide distributed loads, individual point loads and any wheels or equipment feet. Include dynamic, impact and temporary construction effects where relevant.
Span & support
Measure clear unsupported distances and bearing widths. Show intermediate supports, discontinuities and the relationship to the supporting frame.
Serviceability
Agree deflection, vibration and movement criteria for the access task. State the criterion consistently when comparing alternative systems.
Local details
Review cut-outs, notches, edge loading and openings. Confirm where the intact-product data remain applicable and where a separate check is needed.
Environment
Provide temperature, chemical exposure and weather conditions. Identify the required resin, surface, fire or specialist performance evidence.
Complete load path
Check the floor, frame, bracing and connections together. Confirm the reactions and anchorage to the supporting asset.
Bearing, restraint & joints
Make the connections
part of the floor choice.
Agree the connection details with the selected panel and support. Interlocking edges and panel hold-down have different jobs.
Panel bearing
Confirm the required seating and support detail. Check local contact stresses and the condition of existing supports.
Hold-down & uplift
Specify compatible restraint and any uplift requirement. Include access for fitting, inspection and future removal.
Interlocking edges
Follow the selected profile’s joint and orientation detail. Do not assume the edge connection transfers load in a way that has not been established by design.
Anchors & substrate
Record the supporting material and condition. Review anchor suitability, edge distances and any testing needed to establish the fixing design.
Water & movement
Detail joints and exposed ends against the environment. Where seals are required, confirm compatibility and movement allowance.
Fabrication & installation
Carry the design intent
onto the site.
Prepare the panel schedule around transport, handling and installation. Keep bearing direction, piece marks and the accepted revision with the delivery information.
Before fabrication
Confirm dimensions, openings, orientation and edge treatment. Resolve comments before releasing the cut schedule.
During installation
Follow the agreed handling and fixing instructions. Verify support condition, seating and panel locations against the drawings.
At handover
Record the installed arrangement and any approved changes. Provide inspection, cleaning and removable-access information.

Questions about pultruded flooring.
Can a pultruded panel span in either direction?
Do not assume that. Confirm the load-bearing direction and support arrangement for the selected product, and mark it on the panel layout.
Does an interlocking joint make a floor watertight?
No. Review the joint, seals, perimeter and penetrations against the required water or containment performance.
Can it carry vehicles?
Only an identified, verified assembly should be specified for a vehicle duty. Provide wheel loads, contact areas, dynamic effects and the applicable project requirements.
Can the slab be cut around services?
Cut-outs can interrupt load-bearing elements. Review the opening and additional support before fabrication or site alteration.
What information is needed first?
Send the span direction, support layout, loads, environment and access requirements. Include proposed openings and any removable panels.
