RiserDeck® technical decision support

RiserDeck® vs steel riser flooring

Compare RiserDeck® against RiserSafe®, OmegaRiser® and steel alternatives across structural duty, fire strategy, installation, MEP coordination and whole-life performance.

Key design position: Vital designs RiserDeck® to a minimum 5.0 kN/m² UDL as standard. A lower project access requirement does not reduce that standard RiserDeck® design baseline. RiserDeck® is Class B to EN 13501-1 subject to the controlled classification applicable to the actual product. In a protected shaft, the required fire-resistance period belongs to the complete shaft construction — walls/lining, doors, fire-stopping and interfaces — not to the access deck alone.

Minimum standard UDL design position. Final project design checks spans, supports, cut-outs, fixings, point loads and serviceability.

OmegaRiser® published SWL1.5 kN/m²

Ambar Kelly current product page. RiserDeck®’s standard figure is 3.33× this published SWL; this does not imply OmegaRiser cannot be project-engineered differently.

RiserSafe® published wording250 kg/m² SWL

Approximately 2.45 kN/m². The same manufacturer page separately references a CF32 3.0 kN/m² loading calculation sheet, so project-specific evidence should be obtained before assigning one design capacity.

Why RiserDeck® is recommended

    Information required before specification

      Controlled evidence

Technical triage only. Final selection remains subject to the project fire strategy, Building Regulations, product-specific evidence and project-specific structural design. Published competitor figures are treated as stated standard/SWL information, not maximum achievable capacities.

      Build the riser opening

Define the actual geometry, service zone and support strategy. This geometry is now part of the RiserDeck® design recommendation rather than a separate sketch.

        Preliminary RiserDeck® design engine

This stage converts the riser geometry into a preliminary panel/support arrangement. The entered project UDL is checked against the minimum 5.0 kN/m² RiserDeck®standard design baseline; duties above 5.0 kN/m² are routed to project-specific engineering.

        Design preferences

Panel width is a handling/fabrication preference only. Structural capacity remains governed by the exact RiserDeck® panel, support, fixing, cut-out and serviceability design.
