How to install an all-GRP riser-floor system
Follow the approved drawing from site verification and controlled drilling through the all-GRP support frame, panel fixing, inspection and handover.
The central principle
Build the approved load path.
The safe result is one verified system: substrate, all-GRP perimeter and channels, service trimmers, panels, compatible fixings and controlled records.
Site conditions control the work. Where the opening, substrate, services or fixing zones differ from the approved design, stop and return the change for technical review.

Drawing. Drilling. Frame. Panels. Record.
Install a GRP riser floor as an engineered system, not as a collection of panels and loose supports.
Before work starts, check the approved general arrangement, support and trimming details, fixing schedule, risk assessment and method statement. Confirm that the opening, levels, substrate and service layout still match the design. If they do not, stop and return the change for review.
Set a controlled work zone above and below the opening. Protect the fall risk throughout the sequence, establish the approved access method and lifting route, and confirm that the access equipment and surrounding structure can carry the installation loads.
Mark the finished floor level and the positions of perimeter supports, internal channels and service trimmers from the approved drawing. Check the wall construction, fixing zones, edge distances, hidden services and reinforcement before drilling. Never assume that a nominal opening or concrete edge matches the latest design.
Use the drill, bit and approved anchor system specified for the substrate. Control drilling dust at source with suitable extraction and wear the face-fit respiratory, eye and other protective equipment required by the current assessment. Drill to the specified diameter and depth, clean the hole exactly as the anchor manufacturer requires, and reject damaged, misplaced or uncertain holes.
Install the GRP perimeter support at the correct level, then add the approved all-GRP channels and trimmers. Keep bearing, joint support and clearances consistent with the drawing. Do not introduce steel support members: they can create corrosion and cold-bridging interfaces and change the intended load path.
Tighten and verify every fixing using the current project detail and fixing manufacturer’s instructions. Do not borrow a universal spacing, embedment or torque from another project.
Place the pre-cut panels in the agreed sequence, coordinating work above and below the opening. Confirm orientation, edge bearing, panel joints and service zones before fixing down. Use only the approved clips, washers and compatible fasteners. Panel joints and cut edges must have the support shown on the drawing; a site cut is not a substitute for an omitted trimmer.
Finish with a controlled inspection. Check levels, bearing, supports, fixings, panel restraint, openings, edge protection and housekeeping. Record any approved changes, photographs and hold-point evidence in the as-built and operation and maintenance information.
The safe result is one verified system: substrate, all-GRP frame, panels, services, fixings and records. If any part differs from the approved design, stop and ask Vital GRP for technical review.
