Support. Select. Position. Tighten. Inspect.

Fixing GRP grating correctly starts before the first clip is tightened. The grating, supporting structure and fixing layout must work together as one system.

First, confirm the approved drawing, panel orientation, clear span and bearing. Every loaded edge needs suitable support. A clip restrains a panel; it cannot correct missing bearing, an unsupported cut edge or an excessive span.

Next, identify what the fixing must do. An M clip holds compatible open-mesh grating down to a support. A C clip helps align adjacent compatible panels, but it does not support a free edge. A G clamp can secure grating where the support flange and underside are accessible. A direct-fix arrangement needs a fastener selected specifically for the substrate.

Match the complete assembly to the grating depth, mesh, support geometry, environment and access for installation. Check the clip plate, bolt length, washer, nut and lower saddle or clamp. Do not force an incompatible fixing into the mesh.

Set the panel onto clean, stable supports with the correct bearing. Position hold-down fixings close to corners and along the actual support lines, following the approved layout. Joints, cut-outs, access panels, vibration and uplift may require additional consideration.

Tighten the fixings evenly. Secure the panel without crushing the grating, distorting the bars or pulling adjacent panels out of line. Protect or trim projecting threads where the approved detail requires it.

Then inspect the completed area. Confirm alignment, bearing, movement, trip hazards and the intended removal route for maintenance panels. Recheck the fixing layout after adjacent panels, trims and service openings are complete.

There is no universal clip quantity for every GRP floor. The correct arrangement depends on the panel, supports, exposure and project specification. Always work to the latest approved drawings, installation information and site controls. If the support or fixing route is uncertain, stop and ask Vital GRP to review the detail.

Important: This film is general installation guidance. Current approved drawings, calculations, fixing schedules, product data, RAMS and competent supervision remain authoritative. It gives no universal fixing quantity, fastener, spacing or torque.
