GRP Irrigation Pump & Filter Access Platforms
Reach the pump and filter.
Keep seasonal maintenance practical.
GRP irrigation pump and filter access platforms. Plan valve routes, servicing space, wet-area grating and support details with Vital.
Choose the access area.
Pump servicing positions
Provide standing space beside motors, couplings and service points. Coordinate the access with the equipment supplier’s maintenance envelope and keep the component handling route clear.
Explore the system →Filter and valve routes
Connect routine inspection and valve positions with a defined walking surface. Allow for filter opening, strainer withdrawal and the footwear and tools used on site.
Explore the system →Wet-area deck panels
Select the grating and surface for the actual contamination and cleaning conditions. Detail panel supports, edges and removable zones around drains and service connections.
Explore the system →Choose the system around the duty.
GRP grating and flooring
Compare mesh, resin and surface options against the environment and required duty. Detail edge finishing, cut-outs and supported removable panels.

Set the approach around available space, carried tools and the connection to the service area. Keep landing and guarding interfaces clear in the drawings.
View the product guidance →Build the brief around the working task.
Irrigation equipment needs attention when demand is highest, often in wet areas reached with tools, replacement strainers or motor components. A platform should put the operator at the right working height and leave enough space for the maintenance task. Start with the pump and filter arrangement, including how covers open and parts are removed. Vital can coordinate GRP working surfaces, local platforms and access steps around the equipment, the retained supports and the seasonal installation window.
Start with the site information
Bring plans, photographs and the equipment supplier’s maintenance clearances. Identify the working position, the route used to reach it and the supporting structure. Vital can help coordinate survey, design information, fabrication and installation around that brief.
Survey and site capture →Resolve the interfaces before fabrication.
Service clearances
Record cover movements, withdrawal dimensions and the planned method of handling heavier components. A convenient standing position is only useful if the maintained part can also reach it.
Water and seasonal contamination
Describe irrigation leakage, sediment, mud, algae and cleaning methods. Surface selection should be paired with drainage and an achievable inspection and cleaning routine.
Approach and site traffic
Map the route from the yard or service building and identify any interaction with tractors, trolleys or delivery vehicles. Keep vehicle loads distinct from pedestrian access duty.
Specify the complete load path.
Make the loading explicit
Define personnel, tools and replacement-component loads for the walking surface and service landing. Include point loads, contact areas, positions and any handling equipment. Record spans, support reactions and the required deflection criterion. Pump vibration and equipment support belong in the coordinated review where they affect the access structure; do not assume that a maintenance deck supports the pump itself.
Review the design requirements →Check the support and fixing detail
Confirm whether the access bears on an existing slab, a new foundation or a retained frame. Record substrate condition, available bearing and any restrictions near buried services or drains. Select anchors and panel restraint for the accepted arrangement, with testing where required by the designer. An open-ground location needs a defined support solution rather than an assumption that a small platform can sit on the surface.
Request the supporting information →Plan the installation and the next maintenance visit.
Plan survey and installation around irrigation demand and the equipment shutdown available to the operator. Confirm delivery access, module handling and the maintenance route during the works. At handover, retain the accepted drawing, permitted loads, panel identification and fixing checks. Include cleaning and inspection information so the surface remains usable through wet periods and seasonal restart.
CAD, structural design and BIM →What should the handover retain?
Keep the agreed drawings, component identification, permitted use, inspection information and maintenance instructions together. Record how future alterations to services, equipment or supports will be reviewed before work starts.
Survey, design and installation support →Connect the specification with the evidence.
Standards and site requirements
For permanent machinery-access platforms and walkways, review the applicability of ISO 14122-2 alongside the rest of the access arrangement and the project specification. HSE agricultural machinery guidance provides operational context for maintenance planning. The access package should fit the operator’s maintenance arrangements and equipment requirements.
Define the package boundary
This application concerns personnel access to irrigation equipment. It does not design the irrigation process, pressure system, pump isolation or lifting arrangement. Define those interfaces with the equipment and site teams. Livestock flooring and vehicle-bearing crossings require their own specified duties and product review.
Questions to resolve before ordering.
Can a platform be fitted around an existing irrigation skid?
Yes, subject to a measured layout and assessment of the available supports. Include the equipment maintenance envelope and service connections before finalising the platform outline.
Does GRP grating remove the need for cleaning?
No. Select the surface for the expected conditions and provide a practical cleaning and inspection routine. Mud, algae and other deposits still need to be managed.
What should we send to get the design discussion started?
Send photographs, pump and filter drawings, maintenance clearances, support information and the loads to be carried. Add the planned shutdown window and any site-access restrictions.
Send the requirement.
Start the engineering review.
Record the available dimensions, loads, supports and site constraints using the design-input guide. Keep your notes with the latest drawings, then send the project information to Kev or Ashleigh for support.
Send the latest revision with photographs and the scope you need: design, supply, fabrication or installation.
Send your drawings →
Prepare a useful project pack
Include the access area, task, outline geometry, operating conditions and installation window. Mark unknown inputs so they can be resolved in review.
Review the platform design inputs →The brief records requirements; it does not calculate or approve the structure.
